Boiography Dúo Sarasate
The Sarasate Duo is formed by Jonathan Mesonero (violin) and Mercedes Medina (piano). Their love to music was the main reason for these two musical personalities to make music together, and that is it why this chamber music ensemble has been successful in Spain during the last years. The audience feels their passion, respect to the composers and illusion for new repertoire.
This solid chamber music training stands out for the musical quality of its components. Besides the music, communication with the public is essential for them, also through the word.
Their programs are carefully selected, taking special care to the Spanish repertoire. It is really important for this unique duo to put in value the Spanish musical culture, performing pieces by M. de Falla, P. Sarasate, Donostia father, J. de Monasterio, J. Turina, X. Montsalvatge, E. Toldrá, S. Bacarisse, o P. Sorozábal.
Many of this composers have been sadly forgotten today, which it makes sometimes pretty difficult to find even information about them. That is it Duo Sarasate’s DNA, not only their musical talent but their deep research into the culture.
Since their debut 2016, they have given recitals in Madrid, Barcelona, Burgos, Lion, Valladolid, Donostia, Vitoria, Pamplona and various locations in our geography. They have made some studio and live recordings. Both Jonathan Mesonero, such as Mercedes Medina have been interviewed in different media and have been invited to the live program Andante con Moto de Radio Clásica. They have participated in the San Sebastián Musical Fortnight and in 2019 has played within the Martes Musicales de Vitoria cycle.
In September 2020 they released their last project Sarasate on my mind, a recital entirely composed of Spanish composers who dedicated their works to Pablo Sarasate. At, in addition to disseminating works as little known as those of Juán Manén or Enrique Fernández Arbós, They have rescued the Rondo Lievanense de Jesús de Monasterio, which remained unpublished since the nineteenth century and premiered The Blue Forest, work dedicated to them, written by Manuel Comesaña in the spring of 2020.
